King Solomon’s Mines (1885) is a novel by the English writer Sir H. Rider Haggard. This narrates the adventures in an unexplored region of Africa of a group of expeditionaries led by the hunter Allan Quatermain, in search of the missing brother of one of the members of the group. It is the first English adventure novel set in Africa, and is considered the genesis of the Lost World literary genre.
